- Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature
- 1 cup tightly packed light brown sugar
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9” square baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
- Dust with flour and tap out the excess
- In a large bowl, beat (use an electric mixer) the butter and sugars until well combined.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla until the batter is light and fluffy.
- Measure the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
- Sift directly into the butter batter. Beat (electric mixer) until just combined.
- With a spatula, spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake 24-28 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean or only with crumbs.
- Remove the pan from the oven.
- Cool the bars in the pan for at least 1 hour.
- Cut into squares just before serving or giving to neighbors
- Keep at room temperature for 3-5 days or in refrigerator for 6-14 days.
