Line a gift box with wax paper and put some between layers. Of course, a bit of festive ribbon tied around the box (or bag).

With this recipe, you’ll wow them!

 

 

  • Ingredients
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup tightly packed light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Directions
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease a 9” square baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • Dust with flour and tap out the excess
  • In a large bowl, beat (use an electric mixer) the butter and sugars until well combined.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla until the batter is light and fluffy.
  • Measure the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • Sift directly into the butter batter. Beat (electric mixer) until just combined.
  • With a spatula, spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  • Bake 24-28 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean or only with crumbs.
  • Remove the pan from the oven.
  • Cool the bars in the pan for at least 1 hour.
  • Cut into squares just before serving or giving to neighbors
  • Keep at room temperature for 3-5 days or in refrigerator for 6-14 days.
