Whiskey Walnut Brownies- November, 2023.

While I consider myself a wine lover, occasionally a shot of whiskey is good. A cold winter’s night is the perfect time.
Bring these to the adults at your harvest celebration.
- Ingredients
- 12 Tablespoons (1 ½ sticks)
unsalted butter - 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- ¼ cup whiskeyr
- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
(60% cacao at least) chopped into small, even-sized pieces - 1¼ cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ cup and 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9” square baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Dust with flour and tap out the excess.
- In a small bowl, toss the walnuts with the whiskey and let combine for 1 hour. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over low heat. Stir frequently.
- When almost melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir until combined. Let cool.
- In a large bowl, beat the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until creamy.
- Add the cooled chocolate mixture to the batter. Mix until well combined.
- Measure the flour and salt. Sift directly into the chocolate batter. Mix gently.
- Stir in the whiskey-soaked walnuts and 2 tablespoons of whiskey if any left.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake 30-35 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the middle of the pan and if it comes out clean or only with crumbs –done!
- Remove the pan from the oven. Let cool for at leastone hour.
- Cut just before serving. 12-16 pieces
